Metro Manila Film Festival |
What is a festival? According to Google, it is:
*a day or period of time set aside for feasting and celebration
*an organized series of acts and performances (usually in one place); "a drama festival"
*Another way of describing a Feast Day.
And what is a film festival? It is:
*a cinematic festival that features films (usually films produced during the past year)
Hmm. That's pretty vague and could very well describe the kinds of films that usually comprise the bi-annual Metro Manila Film Festival. It supposedly celebrates new Filipino films and shows them exclusively in local theaters.
Supposedly.
I support the idea behind the festival. But not the process. Because the process is just insulting. It doesn't respect filmmakers (mainstream and independent) and it doesn't even require effort anymore.
I feel sad for the actors who are caught in between. And I feel angry at the committee people for not even trying to make an effort.

Christmas shopping and other stuff |
I'm finally done with my Christmas shopping! Yes, while wrapping the gifts I had last week, I found out that I wasn't able to buy a Christmas gift for my goddaughter. But that's over now. I am now officially broke. Oh well.
***
In other news, full trailer for Sin City has been released. Check it out!
Blade Trinity's trailer is also out.
Trailer for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is also out. It's obviously made by Tim Burton, reminiscent of Nightmare Before Christmas. It might be a little too dark for my taste. And seeing as how I loved the 1971 version, I am a bit hesitant about this. We'll see.
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is also something to look forward to.
Merchant of Venice is also out. This is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays and I'm looking forward to seeing this on the big screen. I've watched it so many times on stage but never on screen. That'll be a treat!
Motorcyle Diaries is something I'm looking forward to. Well, msotly because of Gael. *wink* See a preview here!
And this is something I'm so looking forward to!
My only wish is that I'll be able to watch these movies when they come out here! |

Christmas 2004 |
Christmas 2004 has been amazing, not to mention full of food! We spent Christmas Eve at my grandma's house as well as Christmas lunch, which extended to snacks and then dinenr. Let me tell you. When we started eating, the food never stopped coming. I mean, we haven't even finished eating lunch yet and the snacks are already being prepared and brought to the dinner table. Would you believe we had snacks coming one after the other from about 2 in the afternoon to about 5 or 6pm! As usual, it was pure chaos. But an enjoyable one. It's that sort of chaos I look forward to everytime we have a reunion.
Til the next one!

Pinoy Slang? |
I don't get why people interchange Pinoy words when they talk. Do they think it's going to make what they're trying to say even clearer? It's like this
*kotse becomes tsikot
*tao becomes ota
*gutom becomes tomguts
*pare becomes repapips or erap
*father becomes erpat
*mother becomes ermat
And so on and so on and so on...
I mean, what is up with that?! Why can't people just talk properly?

Christmas |
For the first time in 8 years, we'll be spending Christmas in our house in QC. I've forgotten how it feels like, to spend Christmas there. And I hope it'll be fun.
I am looking forward to the holiday season. It's just a chance for me to relax because the work for the store never stops. It's good work naman pero sometimes I just want to tell everyone to stop pressuring us and if I don't ask for your advice, then I don't need it, okay? I get enough pressure from my father.

weekend updates |
I am back in Manila. For the weekend.
Then I'm off to Tagaytay once again tomorrow night.
My sister and I have been training some of the people we'd like to include as our staff since Monday and it will continue until next week.
It's really hard but when you see, right in front of you, that you've made the right decision, well, it makes it all better.
This weekend, I'm off to take care of some stuff for the store and for my dad. It still amazes me that we have so much to do and so little time to do it.
I'll be going back to Tagaytay tomorrow night, stay there for a little more than a week probably just to check up on the progress of the trainees and then come back here to attend my dear friend Mel's son's 1st birthday. I really hope I can go there! I miss my friends an awful lot. |

I just hope people are always like that the rest of the year. |
