"For Our Feature Presentation"
Monday, March 31, 2003
It's so nice to see a Filipino in an international website. Saw Piolo Pascual featured in http://www.mostbeautifulman.com. But if they're gonna feature him then they should feature Patrick Garcia also.

You know what? I'm quite afraid that I'm losing touch with God. The thing is I think I'm forgetting the stuff I learned about him. Or more appropiately, I haven't forgotten them but I have been putting them aside. Have I really changed? I feel like I've been trying to convince myself so hard that I've changed that I've blocked out that voice in me that says I haven't. Have I really? How do I know I really have? This is why I don't like to be alone. I tend to think too much when I'm alone.

Listening to Norah Jones again. I just love her music. Right now, I'm listening to Day Is Done. It's just so calming, soothing and something you'll look forward to gearing over and over again. Some of my favorite songs are sung by her: Turn Me On and One Flight Down.

You know, ever since I was reassigned to write nusic reviews for RAD, I have made it my life: music, i mean. There are just so many kinds of music to explore. Right now I'm exploring Filipino indie music and I really like it. I also discovered that Moby has great songs and a lot of them are religious in tone. Very surprising since few pop stars are like that nowadays. I'm also glad that Barbie's Cradle has rediscovered God and included Him in their songs. Gotta save up to buy their album. Another thing I gotta buy is Norah Jones' DVD of her concert in New Orleans. Someone said it's already available in M1 and Tower Records. Too many DVD's and CD's, so little money.

Am I really getting hungry again? Is my metabolism getting fast already? Wow. All that visits to the gym must really be working. Yehey for me! But I do love going to the gym. Keeps my stress level in check. I remember, it was more than a year ago, when I lost my voice for two weeks because of stress. That was really the longest two weeks for me. I swear I will never let that happen to me again.

It's April already and before I know it, it'll be August. I hope all goes well and I'll be leaving by August. But alas, only one has replied and it wasn't good news. When are they coming?!

Oh no. I've been typing this really long entry and because of some unknown fluke, it all vanished! oh my thoughts! they're all gone! Guess I'll just have to start over.

But I really hate when that happens. It happened to me before already. I was composing a rather long essay. I haven't saved it yet and then it happened. My PC crashed, along with my essay. When I tried to recover it, it was already too late. Hay naku. Now, I always remember to save it every paragraph finished or so. Makes life easier that way.

I was able to catch the Philippine TV premiere of Amores Perros over at Cinema One. Wow. What a bloody movie, literally! Loosely translated to English, Amores Perros means "Love's a bitch". Well the three stories did show that. The first one, Octavio and Susana, is a story about Octavio who falls in love with Susana, his brother's wife and tries to earn money so he could take her away and start a new life somewhere else. But his brother has other plans. He takes his wife and his kids and goes into hiding when he is jumped by thugs Octavio hired. The sad thing is Susanna takes all of Octavio's money. The next story, Daniel and Valeria, is about a family man who leaves his wife and two kids for a model and it seems when they start living together, they are hit by really bad karma. Valeria, the model, is involved in a car accident that leaves her on a wheelchair for an indefinite time and metals holding her right thigh in place. Her contract with Enchant is cancelled. Her beloved dog disappears and she fears rats have eaten him and in the end, due to complications beyond their reach, her right leg has to be amputated. The third story, El Chivo and Maru, is about a man who leaves his wife and daughter to spend time in prison. When he gets out of jail, his wife has remarried and his daughter does not acknowledge him anymore. He spends his life assassinating people, including Maru's stepfather. It's such a sad movie. I mean, love is a really wonderful thing and yet, because they loved, their lives are a mess.

Listening to Elton John and George Michael singing Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. Love that song! Listening to U2 now. I swear that group is getting better as they grow older. I have no complaints. They are still so amazing. After all these years, they have continued to give us great songs that will be cherished forever.

Just submitted the essay about peace to the editor. Hope they like it and print it.

Can't seem to write new items for my writing.com portfolio. Want to write a new short story but nothing comes to mind.

I almost forgot to send out this application. Will do it now.

Just saw an article on mostbeautifulman.com about Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Jennifer Lopez. Apparently, Ben wanted to go check out the local night life during the Sundance Festival and he told Lopez that he wanted to check it out just with Damon. Lopez got angry and even told Affleck that maybe he shouldn't marry her and he should marry Matt. Just for one night out? If this is true, then Lopez is such a bitch! I mean, how would she feel if, after telling Affleck that she wanted to go for a night out with the girls, he exploded and told her that maybe she should just marry her friends. It's not like Affleck wanted to postpone the engagement and the wedding! He just wanted some down time with his best friend. Are all engaged women like this?!

Watched Gangs of New York kanina. Not as good as I expected. The story's too vague and too predictable, in some ways. Can't say the same for the acting, though. They were great! Especially Daniel Day-Lewis, who's almost unrecognizable in the movie. Martin Scorsese's direction of the movie was still superb. This is a movie only he can make. He deserves his Best Director Award. Wish he'd won an Oscar for Best Director also but that's ok. Everyone he knows he always does a real good job.

Speaking of Oscars, I'm curious about The Pianist and whether Roman Polanski and Adrien Brody really did do a good job. I wonder when they're going to show it here. I wonder when they're going to show The Hours here. The Pianist and The Hours are the only Oscar-nominated for Best Picture movies that I haven't seen yet. Saw Chicago when it opened here and I loved it!

Can't wait for May! Some of my most-awaited movies will be shown then! Hope I'll be able to squeeze them all in.

Just listened to the Devlin's song, Waiting. That song is just amazing! Heard it when I was watching an episode of Six Feet Under. They featured the song at the end of the second episode of Season 1.

waiting
devlins

Waiting at the station.
Waiting for the right moves.
Waiting in the basement.
Waiting for the right cues.
Waiting in a daydream.
Waiting in this slipstream.
Waiting...

Waiting in the right bars.
Waiting in the right shoes.
Waiting in a fast car.
Waiting in the airports,
waiting for my air-miles.
Waiting in slow motion,
coming through the turnstiles...

And if you ever change you mind,
you know I'm not hard to find.
And if you ever need someone,
I'll still be waiting...

Waiting with the orphans.
Waiting for the bee stings,
they tell me that success brings.
Waiting in the half-light.
Waiting through your whole life.
Waiting for an ideal, a low deal, a no deal.
Play your stereotype, oh yeah...

And if you ever find the time,
you know I'm not far behind.
And if you ever need someone,
I'll still be waiting...

Just waiting, for a friend.
Waiting...

I said it's alright!
It's alright, my friend...
Yeah it's alright!

Just waiting...

Listening to Norah Jones now with her song Turn Me On. She really deserves the Grammy awards she got this year. I'm not surprised that a lot of people don't know her. But I dislike the way things are turning out now. People (including radio stations), who never played her songs before, are now playing it several times in a day only after she won the Grammys. It's so infuriating lang!

I do hope matuloy ako sa Boracay this April. Miss ko na kasi eh! I just love the beach!

Can't believe John Mayer is Mr. March 2003 of the Most Beautiful Man Website. But at least Gael Garcia Bernal was Mr. February 2003!

Sometimes, a lot of Americans are just so arrogant. Feeling nila they can solve everyone's problems. I'm sorry but if you think about it, some of the "people" they helped are in that dangerous position because of the Americans' own doing. Yet they think so highly of themselves.

Went to the gym this morning. Feels good! Went to Mama Rosa for lunch and tried their Aligue Rice - sinful but amazing! Maggigym na lang ako bukas! hahahaha...

Sabi nila di daw maganda ang latest album ng Linkin Park. Di nga talaga kaya? Well, I like them. And I liked their first album. Hope I'll like Meteora also!

i was so surprised when i was listening to Moby's song In My Heart. it was so ... religious. and i appreciate that. Barbie's Cradle's new single, All I Need, is also good and very inspirational.

"In My Heart"

Lord I want
To be up
In my heart

Be
Ohh
Just in my heart, oh Lord
Just in my heart, oh Lord

All I Need

Inside of my heart
Is an army of angels
Just cause i let you go
Oh volunteers they are here
To love and help me
Only cause i said no
To the killer eyes
That invite me to do things
I would have to lie about
And it's better now we are safe
You know i love you more from far away
Now that all i need is God
Hey little girls
Do you still have things that haunt you
Are all the words i say unclear
You know i was there
Just a while ago so miserable
Until i told the truth and prayed
And the killer eyes
That invite me to do things
I would have to lie about
And it's better now we are safe
You know i love you more from far away
Now that all i need is God
Inside of my heart
Is a glorious army waiting for war
The killer eyes
That invite me to do things
I would have to lie about lost their sparkle
And its better now we are safe
You know ilove you more from far away
Now that all i need
Is inside of my heart is an army of angels

i am so addicted to The Sims! i cant stop playing. even if my PC sometimes fouls up, i continue and play. at least i have the original software.

listening to Waiting In Vain. i love that song. whenever i hear this song, i always remember the movie, serendipity. im listening to the version Paolo Santos made. i still prefer the original one with Annie Lennox but his version will do.

WAITING IN VAIN
Annie Lennox

From the very first time I rest my eyes on you, boy
My heart said follow through but I know now
That I'm way down on your line
But the waiting feeling's fine

So don't treat me like a puppet on a string
Because I know how to do my thing
Don't talk to me as if you think I'm dumb
I wanna know when you're gonna come, you see

I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
'Cause summer is here
And I'm still waiting there
Winter is here
I'm still waiting there

Like I said
It's been three years since I'm knocking on your door
And still I can knock some more
Ooh boy, ooh boy, is it crazy look, I wanna know now
For I to knock some more, you see

In life I know
That there is lots of grief
But your love is my relief
Tears in my eyes burn
Tears in my eyes burn
While I'm waitin'
While I'm waitin' for my turn, you see

I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
I don't wanna wait in vain for your love
'Cause summer is here
And I'm still waiting there
Winter is here
I'm still waiting there

Like I said-
I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna wait in vain
I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna, I don't wanna
I don't wanna wait in vain

It's been three years since I'm knocking on your door
And I still can knock some more
Ooh boy, ooh boy, is it crazy look, I wanna know now

Like I said, the tears in my eyes burn
Tears in my eyes burn
While I'm waiting
While I'm waiting for my turn, you see
Ooh boy, ooh boy, is it crazy look, I wanna know now
For I to knock some more
In life I know there is lots of grief
But your love is my relief

whats your favorite song?

ever since I was reassigned to do music reviews, my head has been invaded by so much music. i dont get to watch movies anymore because i am constantly listening to the CDs or the singles i have to review. i dont get to buy books anymore because my money goes to buying CDs and music/entertainment magazines. I recommend buying Press for your immediate music needs, available at Tower Records, Music One and National Bookstore.

some CDs I would recommend:
*Hello Pain - The Pin-up Girls
*Sa Wakas - Sugarfree
*Come Away With Me - Norah Jones
*Chicago - OST

some good singles include:
*One Flight Down - Norah Jones
*I Believe In Love - Dixie Chicks
*Mariposa - Sugarfree
*Daisy - 7 Foot Jr

"If My people, who are called by My name,
will humble themselves and pray
and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin
and heal their land."
