A Letter to Elliott Smith |
It's been 17 hours since I heard about your death, Elliott Smith. Where are you now? Are you with Him? Why did you go, Elliott Smith? Your music took me away from that disillusion called pop. I was hypnotized and you took out my blank stare. Every person who has heard your music is mourning your loss now. You had great music and you had great words.
But I realized that we must be grateful because before you left this world, you shared with us your words through the great music that you sung.
Thank you, Elliott Smith. For the words.
It's my birthday soon and I want to do something that involves you and your music. Maybe I'll give everyone a copy of your CD so they can experience firsthand your great music. Maybe I'll force DJs to play your songs every hour simultaneuosly so that they can't escape you. Maybe I'll go around the Metro with a speaker on top of my car and play your songs so that everyone I pass on the street will hear you.
Thank you, Elliott Smith. For the music.
