suicide |
I grew up mostly in the '80s. I think the '80s rocked and I think the music and movies from that decade rocked and still rocks. The people who ruled the 80s are the people who will forever be in my memory bank. They are the people who made sure I enjoyed my childhood. It overlapped to the early '90s and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Some of them have dropped out of the limelight and although they are not seen, they are still not forgotten. One of these is Jonathan Brandis, who starred in movies such as The Neverending Story II and Tv shows such as Seaquest DSv. Yesterday, I was browsing through the pages of Pinoy Exchange and was shocked to find out that Jonathan Brandis apparently committed suicide. He died last November 12.

Yesterday morning, I received a text message from my friend. She told me that her friend, Alex, had died the night before and she was asking for prayers. I texted her and offered my condolences and asked her how he died. I knew of Alex because we went to the same undergraduate university and he was friends with another friend of mine. My friend never texted back. Then I opened the newspaper and found out that he also committed suicide.

Sometimes I am so dumbfounded and confused how they can find a reason to kill themselves. I don't know anyone personally who committed suicide so I don't know how their families and friends could be feeling. And I don't want to know. I really don't.
