The Da Vinci Code |
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
This book has been on the bestseller list for so long, I cannot imagine life before wihtout it. Essentially, it is one of the most well-written books ever published. I found myself turning the page constantly, eager to find out what was going to happen next. I don't get to sleep at night very well because I was constantly thinking about the book.
Dan Brown manages to "implant" an interest for Leonardo Da Vinci in his readers. Personally, I have become curious about Da Vinci and have looked up the paintings Brown mentioned in the book.
However I was disturbed by its whole plot. I do not want to reveal the plot here since there may be people who have read it and want to read it. Needless to say, I had to stop in the middle of reading this because I eventually broke down and cried.
But I realized that this was, is, simply a work of fiction. And, in the end, all details the reader has read is up to him to analyze.
Would I recommend this book?
As a writer, yes. Dan Brown is a good writer. He is a page-turner.
As a Catholic Christian, I'd have to say, read it at your own risk. I seriously went through personal issues with this book. If you think you will be able to cope with that, then be my guest. |
